We are currently hiring for a Payroll Specialist.

Payroll Specialist Job Summary

Preparation of weekly payroll for 200 employees in a multi-union environment. Preparation of weekly,
monthly, quarterly and annual taxes, and reports, including union fringes and nonunion benefit plans.
Update employee information and adjust previously paid hours. Help answer employee questions
concerning their paychecks and/or complete requests from them.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Enter and maintain employee records in payroll software.
  • Gather information, analyze, and process weekly payroll checks.
  • Prepare weekly remittances.
  • Perform monthly collective bargaining reporting and certified payroll.
  • Prepare and monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual tax and compliance reporting.
  • Interpret and implement tax and collective bargaining rate changes and court orders.
  • Process employee and 3rd party information requests.
  • Assist with answering company phones.

  • Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail, to ensure efficient and accurate preparation.

  • Confidentiality and trustworthiness in maintaining and securing employee information.
  • Independence and exercising judgment when information is incomplete.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree: Accounting, Human Resources, or Business
  • 1-3 year of experience preferred.

FLSA Classification

Exempt, Salaried

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in a standard office
    environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Standard work hours: 7:00-3:30pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times, independently.
